Toyota Motor Corp (NYSE:TM) is planning to trial a new electric pickup truck in Thailand, aiming to compete with Warren Buffett-Backed BYD (OTC:BYDDF) and Great Wall Motor (OTC:GWLLF) in the EV market. The move comes as Chinese EV manufacturers aggressively expand in the region. Toyota's EV sales increased 38.1% Y/Y to 1.8 million in the first half of the year, but the company lowered its forecast for global battery EV sales by 39% last week.
