Maj. Jason Lowery, a U.S. Space Force engineer and MIT fellow, proposed to the Department of Defense an innovative cybersecurity strategy using a global, private Proof-of-Work (POW) network to make hacking too costly. This approach, inspired by Bitcoin's model, would leverage the global power grid to create a resource-intensive system that is expensive and difficult to exploit. Christopher Alexander, CMO of Pioneer Development Group, believes the concept is feasible and could deter security threats while providing infrastructure advantages. The idea has not been tested outside of Bitcoin, and the high energy demands of POW networks are a concern for U.S. politicians.
