The collaboration between Qualcomm Inc. (QCOM) and Iridium Communications Inc. (IRDM) to introduce satellite connectivity to Android phones has been discontinued. The Snapdragon Satellite platform was launched in January to enable satellite-based SMS and emergency messaging on Android smartphones. However, due to lack of integration by smartphone manufacturers, Qualcomm decided to terminate the partnership.
