OpenAI, backed by Microsoft Corp (MSFT), has formed a new team called Preparedness, led by Aleksander Madry, to assess, evaluate, and protect against AI risks. The team will track and forecast dangers of future AI systems, including phishing attacks. OpenAI is also open to studying less obvious areas of AI risk. The company is soliciting ideas for risk studies from the community, offering a $25,000 prize and a job at Preparedness for the top ten submissions. OpenAI, Microsoft, Alphabet Inc (GOOG, GOOGL), and AI startup Anthropic recently led an AI safety forum.
