Amazon has unveiled an updated version of its Just Walk Out technology, designed for the apparel industry. The technology uses RFID tags to monitor clothing items throughout the store. The RFID equipment was provided by Avery Dennison Corp. Amazon has already implemented this technology in select Go convenience stores, Fresh grocery outlets, and licensed stores. However, it is uncertain how many apparel retailers will adopt the RFID version due to concerns about relying on a competitor for crucial in-store technology.
