Tesla, GM, Ford Among Automakers Hit As NHTSA Targets 52M Faulty Airbag Inflators
Portfolio Pulse from Anan Ashraf
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has made an initial decision that some air bag inflators manufactured by ARC Automotive and Delphi Automotive from 2000 through January 2018 must be recalled. These inflators, which may rupture and eject metal debris, have been incorporated into air bag modules of 12 vehicle manufacturers including BMW, Ford, General Motors, Hyundai, Kia, Stellantis, Mercedes-Benz, Tesla, Toyota, and Volkswagen. Delphi Automotive was acquired by Autoliv, who may not have the legal liability for the inflators manufactured by Delphi.
