General Motors (GM) and Google (GOOGL) have been approved to introduce self-driving taxis in the Bay Area via Waymo, a self-driving technology firm. The service, Waymo One, has expanded from Phoenix to San Francisco and soon Los Angeles. Waymo reports no recorded injuries and only two collisions in one million miles of rider-only operations on public highways, mostly caused by other drivers. However, a recent malfunction of an autonomous vehicle caused a traffic jam in San Francisco.
